K-2, the second highest mountain in the world, is located in the Baltistan Division of Gilgit-Baltistan and is administratively part of Shigar District. This mighty mountain is located in the Baraldo Valley, which is known for its difficult routes, deep culture and natural lanscape beauty. Before 2015, this area was included in the boundaries of Skardu District, but now it is officially recognized as part of Shigar District. Although the peak of K-2 is located in Shigar District, geographically many important places around it, such as Askol Village, Concordia, and Baltoro Glacier, are still associated with Skardu District. This combination gives K-2 a unique status where nature, adventure, and local culture are seen together.

Reliable, suitable for well-financed climbers. Emphasis on experienced guides and robust logistics. At least one 7,000m or higher peak is a must before you dream of climbing K-2 . Proficiency in technical climbing (ice/rock climbing), extreme strength and endurance, and an exceptional ability to tolerate altitude are essential. If summiting K-2 is beyond your means, the K-2 Base Camp Trek is a wonderful and challenging adventure in itself.
Remember, this trek is not easy and must be done with a licensed guide. The best time is from June to September.
